Newport Square Apartments is an apartment community located at 9 South Second Street, Newport. This community is a subsidized through Cumberland/Perry Housing Authority. The monthly rent amount is determined by the Cumberland/Perry Housing Authority using a formula based on the applicant’s total household income. Newport Square Apartments is designed and financed specifically for senior citizens age 62 or older or for a handicap/disabled person of any adult age. The community offers one-bedroom apartments for independent living. Each apartment is equipped with electric range, refrigerator, wall to wall carpeting and emergency pull alarms. There are two apartments specifically equipped and designed solely for the special needs of a disabled person. Water, sewer, trash removal, heat and electric are included in the rent amount.

The apartments are located on the town square of Newport next door to the Perry County Council of the Arts gallery. Entrance to the building is controlled by key or intercom/telephone access only.On the first floor of the building is a community room for socializing. There is an elevator as well as stairs for access to the upper floors. Laundry facilities are located on the second and third floors.
